Boston Harbour
The beautiful Boston Harbour, USA, collection of art prints, homeware and gifts.
Enclosed by Deer Island to the north and the wide arm of Hull to the south, Boston Harbour is a famously complicated navigational harbour with shallow channels, many of the Boston Harbour Islands, submerged bars, and strong currents. Offering a diverse array of ecosystems as well as integral shelter, the Harbour and its islands have been a vital resource for inhabitants of the area for thousands of years.
Boston Harbour served as a major trading port for the English colonies during the 1600s and 1700s, as ships carrying commodities often made their way through Boston before traveling down the coast. Boston and its harbour served as a significant stop in Atlantic trading routes, supporting an empire that trafficked enslaved individuals and traded goods consumed and produced by enslaved labour.
